John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic

16th & 17th October 2009

The recent Week of Sport to celebrate the opening of the Sports Club at Amendoeira reached its climax with the two-day John Aldridge Charity Classic golf tournament, now in its’ eighth year.

Once again it was a hugely enjoyable affair played over both the Faldo and O’Connor Jnr courses, with the clubhouse staging the Prizegiving Dinner at the close of the tournament. As always the quality and the intensity of the golf was matched by the banter and the fun between shots, and at the "19th Hole" afterwards.

The winning team after two days of hotly-fought competition was "The Man From Nama", whose prize was free entry into next year’s tournament.

And former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder Jason McAteer won the overall celebrity prize with a score of 63 points that earned him third place in the Individual competition, behind winner Kevin Probert, on 69 points, and runner-up Luis Sequeira who also scored 69 points, but tailed Kevin by one point on round 2.
