The golf course at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort has received its own "royal" treatment thanks to arguably Iberia's greatest golfer of all time; Seve Ballesteros. Increasingly turning his hand to the art of golf course design, the celebrated Spaniard has created a truly exciting layout for the Silver Coast, living up to the quality achieved in other Oceânico Group courses in Portugal.
A challenging and beautifully architectured course, the Royal Óbidos sleekly winds its way through the entire resort, creating a framework in which the various properties and facilities develop. Just 650 metres from the coast, the championship course enjoys great views to the Atlantic ocean and to the Lagoa de Óbidos, Portugal's largest lagoon.
Designed to merge effortlessly into the natural surroundings, while making innovative use of the local terrain, the 6400-metre course offers something to golfers of all levels. "My philosophy is to not only have a championship course with difficulty for professional players, but also one that can have a big challenge for, and can be enjoyed by, the club golfer," Ballesteros explains.
