Oceânico Golf, S.A. has been a member of IAGTO – the International Associsation of Golf Tour Operators since 2000 and is on its Steering Committee.

NP EN ISO 14001

Oceânico Golf, the company that manages the Vilamoura golf courses obtained certification in 1998 for its Enviromental Management System in accordance with international standard NP EN ISO 14001. This company therefore became the first golf course manegment in the world to be granted the certification.

Green Globe

Green Globe is a WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council) programme set up to implement the principals of Agenda 21 with specific reference to the tourism industry. When the André Jordan Group acquired a controlling interest in Lusotur in 1996, it joined GREEN GLOBE as an initial step towards establishing sustainable tourism in Vilamoura. Based on GREEN GLOBE recommendations, the company drew up an ambitious environmental programme that culminated in its being certified as a GREEN GLOBE DESTINATION in the year 2000, and this certification has been renewed every year since then.

Committed to GREEN

‘Committed to GREEN’ is a voluntary environmental mangagement programme created bythe European Golf Association (EGA) specifically for golf courses. Oceânico Golf, S.A., out the programme into practice in the year 2000 and, after the EGA confirmed that its objectives were being complied with, the company was officially granted ‘Committed to Green’ certification.
